In this initiative, more than 25000 Internet Saathi volunteers are reaching out to women in 100,000 villages and educating them on digital grounds, with the help of smartphones powered by internet.

More than 10 Indian states have joined this initiative by Google to employ these women, who are skilled and aware of digital technology. In coming years, Google plans to expand to 200,000 more villages, as the response from the women who were trained, has been overwhelming. According to Google’s report on Internet Saathi, 90% women said they have developed a better understanding of the internet and another 30% said they realised internet can help them gain financial stability.
